There is also a very wide variety of stalls littered around the street in case you want to buy souvenirs from the event, or even sample some of the fine food and wares being offered by local, national or even international merchants.

The car parking at Luton Airport is good as it has security patrols 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure your vehicle stays as safe as possible. In 2008 the centre of Luton came to a standstill for carnival - although those in the procession were anything but still as they danced and gyrated their way along the procession route. The selection of live musical entertainment taking place for free on just one day was quite astonishing. With three stages and eight sound sites across the town, visitors to carnival were treated to music from around the world including, jazz, reggae, house, soca, roots, salsa and soul. It may have rained and it may have been cold and windy but that didn’t stop the bands giving 100% and the fantastic, and hardy, audience from dancing and cheering each song by each band. Even the Police were caught dancing away towards the back of the crowd. It was a truly amazing day of entertainment with a fantastic array of culture on show and the indication is that this year will be even better!

Many people fly into Luton airport every week. OK, it may not be quite as popular as some of the other airports like Heathrow or Gatwick, but at the end of the day, this is largely irrelevant; a slug may be slower than a turtle but that doesn’t mean that either of them is fast! There is a performance space, with seating for 250 people where artists and musicians can showcase their talent. In the teaching and workshop spaces people from all walks of life, united by a love of carnival, are able to meet and share knowledge and resources. The staff are also available to share their wealth of knowledge and encourage best practice in areas ranging from costume making, business skills and music development. It truly is an excellent place where people can come and learn about different cultures in a fun and enriching environment.

Throughout the year there are a wide variety of different workshops and classes to take part in. These range from dancing classes where you can sample a range of styles (from samba to salsa) to a masquerade ball at weekends. No matter what you enjoy doing you are bound to find something to suit your needs at the Luton Carnival Arts Centre. If you are able to get yourself down to the centre then you would be crazy not to - with so much on offer it is a truly fantastic day out and you can really enrich a holiday or a week by learning about such vibrant cultures in such a fun and interactive way. One thing’s for sure - if you choose not to then you’ll be regretting it later on!

One of the last things that is likely to be on your mind when you are booking a holiday, and why should it be? You will want to get your flights booked, accommodation booked, activities sorted out and transport organised on the other side before you even think about how to get to the airport.
