Accessories for Your Rental Car

Not many are aware of it, but there are a wide range of accessories as well as optional extras for your rental car available to make your trip to the UK more convenient and even more enjoyable. One of the most important accessories you can ask about is snow chains. Matter of fact, snow chains are often a requirement in order to drive safely. There is usually a one-time cost for snow chains. Plus you can also rent ski racks, and snowboard racks for the time you’ll be renting your car.

Another great accessory for your car hire is a short term mobile phone. Renting a mobile a phone extremely straight forward and you can pay for your calls as you go. A GPS navigational program. Most systems are straight forward and can really take the stress out of driving through the UK on roads that are unfamiliar. If you are traveling with children, an accessory you may need is a booster seat hire or child seat hire. These two items are usually free and can be included in the car rental if you ask.

There are also a few more free accessories for your rental car. Typically 24 hour roadside assistance, touring maps of the city streets are available. Travel with the peace of mind that if something unfortunate happens like a flat tire, you’ll be back on the road as fast as humanly possible. You can also have access to free touring and accommodation guidebooks to help with your hotel stay or other leisurely activities. Truthfully, getting the right accessories for your car hire can make all the difference when you are on vacation.

Luton to Paris

A short trip is where the low-cost, small airlines really shine. They can offer short flights at a lower cost by using smaller planes, shorter routes, and smaller airports. In a city like London there is a behemoth airport like Heathrow and the major airlines collect at one airport. But the city also has smaller airports where these low-cost carriers can offer cheaper flights on the shorter routes like Luton to Paris.

The opportunities for inexpensive flights from Luton to Paris abound. Finding them on the Internet is two-fold. First, one can try to find flights on travel sites like Orbitz or Expedia. Unfortunately, many of these sites are major carrier-centric. They do not serve the smaller airlines, part of that is because the underlying data system charges the airlines big bucks to be a part of it. Therefore, to find deals on flights one has to go to the smaller airline’s own site and search individually. Though, a bit more work, it can pay off in huge savings.

Therefore, the second step is see what airlines serve a particular airport. Looking at Luton Airport one will find that EasyJet offers a lot of good deals being a low-cost carrier. EasyJet has a number of Luton to Paris flights available depending on day of the week. The cost also fluctuates according to season, with off-season rates being quite low.

If one would fancy a rail trip from the airport, Eurostar can bring one to Paris from Luton by using a couple of train companies and a connection in London.

Luton Car Parking

Parking at airports used to be very expensive, but services have improved greatly over the last few years and it is now the case that driving to the airport from your home, parking up there for the week and then driving it back actually works out cheaper than other forms of public transport, such as rail, or other travel methods for example taxis. Luton airport is no exception, and with it being such a large airport based near London there are many opportunities for them to lower costs with economies of scale provided to their 10million customers a year.

If you’re parking at Luton the first thing you need to consider is the type of parking you require. The types available are short-term, mid-term and long-term parking. Short stay parking is most appropriate if you’re just setting down for an hour or so to pick someone up for the airport as it is a rather costly way to park. However, if you don’t want to have to travel to the airport via shuttle bus then you could technically park in short stay for as long as you like – business travellers may consider this option, especially if the parking is just for a day or two and being paid for by their company! Long-term parking is designed for those going on holiday for an extended period of time and is a rather long way from the airport. However, to make up for this, rates are the cheapest out of any other car parking bays. Finally, mid-term provides the closest compromise between short-term and long-term parking and is designed for those going away for a short break such as a few days.

Luton Carnival

Luton Carnival is an absolutely spectacular event that takes place in May every year in Luton and is fast become a must see for anyone visiting Britain, particularly around London, over this time period. For this one afternoon, the whole of Luton stops – from the infants at the local primary schools up to company directors – to watch the procession trail around the streets of Luton. It fist made its appearance in 1976 as a local street fair for the local residents, but the carnival has grown rapidly in popularity and managed to receive international recognition in 1988. Now, over 100,000 are believed to turn out to see, or be part of, it every year.

At this sort of time, the weather in Britain can be pretty temperamental and no one ever whether it’s going to pour down with rain or be a heat wave. However, with many months of meticulous planning, the weather simply isn’t allowed to stop the fun. No matter what, the carnival will be absolutely brilliant with every event from Brazilian Dancers to African Drummers parading. This will be complemented perfectly by a range of soul and jazz music, and loads of offerings by local organisations such as schools, businesses and charities. There is also a very wide variety of stalls littered around the street in case you want to buy souvenirs from the event, or even sample some of the fine food and wares being offered by local, national or even international merchants.

Luton Car Park

The car parking at Luton Airport is good as it has security patrols 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure your vehicle stays as safe as possible. Very high security fences are standard on all the car parks and your vehicle will always be on CCTV. You will most likely find it safer to park your vehicle at the airport rather than leaving it at home; when you’re on holiday the last thing you want to be worrying about is how your much-loved car is faring on your street at home – will someone drive past and knock the wing mirror off? Perhaps scratch it? None of that will happen in a Luton airport car park.

If you’re not local to Luton, you will find that driving and parking up is actually the most cost-effective and convenient way to get to the airport. If you’re considering taking the train from London and back you may find this to be as much as £150, and if you’ve got a large family the cost is multiplied greatly. There is also the option to consider of getting a taxi, but these again can work out to be very expensive, in the hundreds of pounds each way, and they are sometimes not the safest means of transport. For just the cost of your petrol and £10 a day parking in the long stay car park you can take your car and I promise you it will be a much better, more relaxed trip.

Luton Carnival 2010

Every year, Luton carnival draws thousands of people every year. It is an event that is not paralleled anywhere else in the UK and its uniqueness is what appeals to all these people. Very few details have been released about the format of this year’s carnival but if we look at previous carnivals then we can have an indication of what the format may be like.

In 2008 the centre of Luton came to a standstill for carnival - although those in the procession were anything but still as they danced and gyrated their way along the procession route. With many different groups, clubs, schools, societies and communities taking part, the parade brought together people in an eye catching and breathtaking procession - demonstrating a diverse mix of arts, music and culture. The selection of live musical entertainment taking place for free on just one day was quite astonishing. With three stages and eight sound sites across the town, visitors to carnival were treated to music from around the world including, jazz, reggae, house, soca, roots, salsa and soul. It may have rained and it may have been cold and windy but that didn’t stop the bands giving 100% and the fantastic, and hardy, audience from dancing and cheering each song by each band. Even the Police were caught dancing away towards the back of the crowd. It was a truly amazing day of entertainment with a fantastic array of culture on show and the indication is that this year will be even better!

Luton Car Hire

Many people fly into Luton airport every week. OK, it may not be quite as popular as some of the other airports like Heathrow or Gatwick, but at the end of the day, this is largely irrelevant; a slug may be slower than a turtle but that doesn’t mean that either of them is fast! Luton remains one of the busier airports in Britain because of the wide array of destinations that are served and the cheap flights that are on offer. Many people choose to stay in Luton and commute into London every day because the surrounding area is much cheaper than inner city London and, let’s face it, if you can save a bit of money on your accommodation then why not?

The only problem is that Luton is some way outside the city centre which can put you in a bit of a dilemma. The choice as to whether you drive or catch the train really does have only one option; you simply have to drive. Why would you stay outside the city to save money, only to spend it all getting back into the city every day? Train travel is more expensive than you’d expect and it can soon add up; leaving car hire a much cheaper option. Not to mention the convenience factor; why restrict yourself to the train routes when you can drive anywhere within the city? Hire a car and it will greatly enhance your trip whilst also leaving you more money to spend on activities.

Luton Carnival Arts Centre

In early 2008 the UK Centre for Carnival Arts opened its doors. Embracing the inclusive spirit of the Luton Carnival, the centre became an expression of the living, breathing and evolving spirit of carnival arts. There is a performance space, with seating for 250 people where artists and musicians can showcase their talent. In the teaching and workshop spaces people from all walks of life, united by a love of carnival, are able to meet and share knowledge and resources. The staff are also available to share their wealth of knowledge and encourage best practice in areas ranging from costume making, business skills and music development. It truly is an excellent place where people can come and learn about different cultures in a fun and enriching environment.

Throughout the year there are a wide variety of different workshops and classes to take part in. These range from dancing classes where you can sample a range of styles (from samba to salsa) to a masquerade ball at weekends. No matter what you enjoy doing you are bound to find something to suit your needs at the Luton Carnival Arts Centre. If you are able to get yourself down to the centre then you would be crazy not to - with so much on offer it is a truly fantastic day out and you can really enrich a holiday or a week by learning about such vibrant cultures in such a fun and interactive way. One thing’s for sure - if you choose not to then you’ll be regretting it later on!

Luton Car Parking at the Airport

One of the last things that is likely to be on your mind when you are booking a holiday, and why should it be? You will want to get your flights booked, accommodation booked, activities sorted out and transport organised on the other side before you even think about how to get to the airport. It is also very likely that once all this has been completed you will not want any additional hassle when you are travelling to the station and will therefore decide to drive to the airport. This has the obvious advantage of being in complete control of your journey and, if something unexpected happens, you’ll be able to do something about it (whereas in a bus or train you’d be sat helpless).

Many people are likely to see this as a bad idea as many of the old stereotypes are prevalent throughout Britain. The cost, for example, works out a little under £1 per hour which, no matter how much you analyse it, is a very good rate. It could even work out cheaper than a train - particularly if you see that you would have to travel into London which could add upwards of £50 onto the cost of your holiday - this is an avoidable cost. You can even book a space in the car park ahead of time and not have the worry of being unable to find a parking space. This wouldn’t be an issue anyway - the car park is able to hold hundreds of cars so you will always be able to find a space.

Luton Caravan Centre

So, you’ve decided that you want to buy a caravan so you can go on holiday in relative comfort. You want all the fun of camping but the security of knowing that if the weather turns a bit sour then at least you’ll be able to stay indoors without the terror of your tent flooding. Another benefit to buying a caravan is that you aren’t restricted as to where you decide to go. If you want to go to mainland Europe then you can travel to and stay at any campsite with your caravan, only having to worry about the ferry journey across. Without a caravan you are restricted by your flights and your hotel, which is obviously problematic if you want to visit a specific place (you also have the issue of hiring a vehicle for the duration of your stay).

At Luton Caravan Centre there is a caravan for everyone. Whether you are after a state of the art modern one that has all the luxuries of home or a more retro caravan that is perhaps more cosy, you will be able to find a caravan that satisfies your need. The caravans are priced incredibly reasonably and you will definitely find one within a price range that you are willing to pay. The members of staff are on hand to help you every step of the way and their knowledge of the different types of caravans on offer allow you to make an informed decision and a very good decision.
