Since it has been the main focus of bloggers, newspapers and the television media for the last month or so, you have undoubtedly heard about the swine flu virus that began in Mexico and is spreading around the world. Once people started to realize that swine flu was killing people throughout Mexico, they started to get much more worried about the potential implications of this virus spreading. Even though people are still worried about the fact that the H1N1 virus continues to spread, it has not caused the same level of deaths that it did in Mexico anywhere else in the world. The strange thing is that while you can look at the facts and see that the deadliness of this flu virus has decreased, people and officials seem just as worried as ever. As a result of their continued but misguided worries, people are changing their plans and certain countries are imposing all kinds of regulations.
Although I think it is safe to assume that people are going to continue to worry about swine flu for the foreseeable future, I’m not letting it get in the way of my summer plans. Towards the beginning of this year, I planned a summer trip to London with my friend, and we have been excited about spending a week in London ever since we booked our reservations. In addition to booking my flight and hotel room, I have already reserved a Luton car rental, so there’s no way I am going through the process of canceling all of those reservations. The one reason that I don’t think I will actually have to worry about canceling my trip is because by the time it actually arrives, I bet the news media will have something new to make people worry about more than swine flu!
